Charu Uppal is a senior lecturer at Karlstad University in Sweden. She previously taught at the University of South Pacific in Fiji. Uppal’s research interest is interdisciplinary with a strong focus on the use of media for expressing cultural and political identity. Her current research explores how rituals are both maintained and modified across generations in an attempt to preserve cultural identity in the digital age. Uppal has also published her work in the Journal of Creative Communications, Social Sciences and the International Communication Gazette.
