About the Speaker:
Prof. Dr. Bharat Gupt, a former Associate Professor in English at the University of Delhi, is an Indian classicist, theatre theorist, sitar and surbahar player, musicologist, cultural analyst, and newspaper columnist. After completing his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees from University of Delhi, he also completed Master’s in English from University of Toronto.
He was awarded PhD for his work titled “A Comparison of Greek and Indian Dramatic Theories as Given in the Poetics and the Natyasastra“. He writes extensively on classical Indian and Greek theatre, comparing their similarities and differences, and has multiple articles and books to his credit. Presently he is a Trustee and Executive member, at Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA), New Delhi (Ministry of Culture, Govt of India).
