Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth is celebrating Shankara Jayanthi on Ugadi, April 6, 2019. The main objective of the event is to enable students to learn about Sankaracharya’s life, legacy and achievements.
The keynote address of the event will be on Adi Shankaracharya, his impact on Indian culture, religion and philosophy, delivered by a renowned Sanskrit scholar. This will be followed by a play on the life of Adi Shankaracharya. Students will also present various cultural performances on the stage.
The following events will also be held on this day:
- Vakyartha Sabha: This is a scholarly discussion on some piercing questions from the Indic traditions. 5 scholars from Sringeri and other centres of learning shall participate in the conversation.
- Inter-collegiate Elocution contest: This is a Sanskrit-English bilingual contest. Students from colleges/universities having Sanskrit programs will be invited to participate in the event. Winners will be awarded cash prizes.
- Inter-collegiate Quiz Competition in English

Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (CVV) is a Deemed-to-be-University in the ‘de novo’ category, started in 2016.
