Lockdown Writing Workshops – 20 Scholarships

The Himalayan Writing Retreat is offering it’s first ever set of online courses. The three day “Lockdown writing workshop” is designed to help people learn writing through the lockdown. The Himalayan Writing Retreat (HWR) is probably India’s best known centre when it comes to learning writing.

With the “Lockdown Writing Workshop”, HWR is delivering the highly rated Himalayan Writing Bootcamp online. Now aspiring writers stuck at home can pursue their writing ambitions without stepping out. This is not a bunch of recorded videos. It is a small group of 10 people working together. The workshop is live & interactive – with lots of writing, sharing & feedback.

This workshop aims to get your writing going over three full days working 9-5 online. Day 1 is about plot, character & voice. On Day 2 we dig into dialogue, setting and description, editing, tech tools etc. On the final day we dissect the Publishing industry. You will understand how to approach a publisher. How to market a book and so on. You will close the workshop by finalizing your book writing plans.

Over these three days, ideas become words, stories in your head become black and white text, and your dreams step closer to reality.

Further details of the Workshop can be found here.

Upcoming online workshops are:

Workshop 1: April 3-5
Workshop 2: April 10-12

Price: INR 14000, inclusive of GST. (will be paid entirely by Indic academy for selected candidates)

Participants: Max 10 per workshop

Indic academy’s Center for Indic Writers, will sponsor upto 20 deserving candidates to participate in both the “Lockdown Writing Workshops”. The Candidate selection is entirely with HWR.  The selected Candidates need to understand the mission of Indic Academy of bringing about a global renaissance based on Indic Civilisational and indigenous thought. Further, they need to demonstrate a knowledge and interest in Indic Writing.

Selected candidates will also have to sign the Indic Pledge and share it on their social media time lines. Post the workshop, they will also have to write about their experience which will be published on this platform.
