‘A Hindu Priest In 2040’ is a story that imagines a scenario where the profession of priesthood, which is generally taken up by brahmins, is dominated by non-brahmin castes in a future time period.
Sowmya is a Computer Science researcher by profession, and an occasional translator. She translates in Telugu and English, and has published two translated books, Satyajit Ray’s Our Films, Their Films from English to Telugu, Navatarangam Publications, 2011, and Telugu writer, Kondapalli Koteswaramma’s Autobiography Nirjana Varadhi into English as The Sharp Knife of Memory, Zubaan Books, 2015.
