It is shown that the first maṇḍala actually appears as a plan for the structure of the entire ṛgveda saṃhitā. The ninth maṇḍala instead of being a sort of ‘appendix’, according to some scholars, is in reality the ‘hub’ of the ṛgveda saṃhitā and provides the organic unity of the whole text.
